Garden Lawn Mowers

Garden lawn mowers are one of the keys to having a beautiful yard that you can enjoy with your family and friends. It’s always disappointing to see a nice lawn that has turned brown from lack of care, or become overgrown because it hasn’t been mowed in so long. On the other hand, maintaining a yard in good condition can be a difficult and time consuming job if you don’t have the right tools. Garden lawn mowers are one of those tools that can take a task that would be almost impossible to do by hand and make it very manageable through automation!

If you have never bought a lawnmower before, the choices can be dizzying. Here are some explanations of the different types available and why you may want to choose them.

The most basic mowers are pushed by hand and don’t have any sort of motor or engine. They work mechanically and leave the grass clippings on the lawn. This may sound primitive, but the grass clippings are actually great fertilizer for your yard, and pushing the mower by hand can actually be fun for smaller yards. It’s also the most green approach since it doesn’t use any gas or electricity and doesn’t create and smoke or noise.

More expensive mowers have an electrical motor or gas engine that spins a blade to cut the grass. You still need to push the mower along, but the blade does all the work of cutting the grass. Gasoline powered motors can be noisy so you may want to wear ear protection. Be careful not to breath in the fumes for too long either. Some of these mowers can collect the grass clippings for disposal in a bag through there is really no good reason to do this except for aesthetics.

For a bit more money, you can find garden lawn mowers that are self-propelled. This means that the motor or engine spins the blade to cut the grass and drives the wheels of the mower forward. You still need to control it and drive it left and right, but it will require less effort on your part. This may not seem like too much of an advantage if your lawn is level but it can be a lifesaver for people with heavily sloping lawns.

Finally, riding lawn mowers are the Rolls Royce of mowers. They take up a lot of room and consume a lot of gas, but can make mowing the lawn as easy and relaxing as possible. They do cost a lot more than other mowers, and are really only practical if you have a large lawn to mow.
